Get More Traffic with Content Syndication

Everyone in internet marketing has heard the term “syndication”. But how well do you really understand this concept? Syndication has been used to refer to the distribution of anything from high-quality articles to funny videos. At the other side of the coin though, the term has also been abused by some marketers. That’s why there is a lot of confusion in the industry.

For example, in article marketing, the line has been blurred between organic content syndication and article spamming. Posting software-spun articles in hundreds of article directories is not proper syndication. That’s why Google has penalized this practice with its Panda algorithm update. Instead, content syndication is all about creating interesting, informative, or even humorous content that other sites will want to publish.

Article Syndication

There is a difference between article syndication and article directory marketing – they are definitely not the same. In syndication, there is no need to rewrite/re-spin your content. It would be published as is with the credit going to you directly. For example, a snippet of text from your blog post may be quoted on the New York Times. Similarly, the tech sections of various newspapers constantly look out of the latest news in the industry and they may syndicate a blog post with interesting new information.

Press Release Syndication

By submitting to popular press release distribution sites, your content may be published on a network of high-authority blogs. In some cases, newspapers and magazines may even pick up the news about your company. This is content syndication at its finest since your company/brand reaches a massive amount of readers within a short period.

Video Syndication

It may be called by a different name, that is, viral marketing. Syndication is closely related to it though. When you publish funny new videos or something that generates interest, it can go viral quickly. But while viral marketing may be focused on the end user, syndication has more to do with getting the attention of publishers, newspapers, highly-trafficked sites, and journals. It spreads your content all over the web which gives it a lot of exposure to different audiences.

So you’re probably thinking by now, is there something you can do to ensure that your content will get syndicated? There are actually a lot of techniques out there that can help. One is to join a network of bloggers. This generates interests on a variety of fronts, which may provide a higher distribution rate of your content.
