Attract Your Readers with a Compelling Headline

Bloggers must know how to write a blog title that can turn a visitor into a loyal reader because first impression matters even on the Internet. However, a good title is more than just grabbing your reader’s attention. It should also tell what the content will be about, encouraging them to read further. In fact, copy blogger Bob Bly listed eight types of blog headlines that can compel your readers to take action.

Keep on reading to learn how you can write a blog title that really works.

Testimonial Headline

This type of headline uses quotation marks to imply that readers will be reading content from a third-party representative, telling them what you and your brand is all about. “BloggerTalk Provides Great Content Writing Tips” — Famous Blogger is an example of a Testimonial Headline.

Question Headline

“Can Article Directories Really Help Your Link Building Campaigns?” is an example of Question Headline. It doesn’t just ask a question, it also entices your visitors to continue reading to see its answer.

How-to Headline

The How-to type of headline is another effective type of blog title because it implies that the content provides a solution to a problem. If you don’t know how to contribute a blog tip on BloggerTalk, maybe the “How to Contribute a Blog in BloggerTalk” write-up can help.

Reason Headline

This type of headline tells your readers that they’ll be reading a list of reasons they should go for your brand. It’s important that your blog’s content is incorporated with the title, and it should answer the question “Why?” An example of Reason Headline is “101 Reasons You should Read My Blog.”

Command Headline

This type of headline needs a strong verb that requires action. It’s like compelling your readers to subscribe to your blog because of the “Subscribe to My Blog Now!” headline.

Direct Headline

From the word itself, the Direct Headline is straight to the point. “Free Blogging Tips” is an example of a Direct Headline because it immediately tells you what the content will be all about—free blogging tips.

Indirect Headline

It’s obviously the opposite of Direct Headline, since it simply raises a reader’s curiosity, which will then urge them to read further in order to find the answer. An example of an Indirect Headline is “Parking Your Brand in the Mobile Market”. The headline has nothing to do with cars because it’s about building your brand’s online presence in the mobile market.

News Headline

This headline is applicable for news such as product announcement or update. “Manufacturer Releases a New Product” is an example of a News Headline.

No matter how good it is, your content cannot be noticed if you don’t have a catchy title. That’s why it’s best to write a title with a call to action to prevent your blog from going down the drain.
